‘Tis the season for Cookies

Try the Wolfe Family Christmas Tree Cookies or Spritz Cookies:

1 cup unsalted butter
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 egg at room temp
2 1/4 cup sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp almond extract
dash of salt
Cookie Press

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In large bowl combine butter and sugar with a hand held mixer on medium-high speed until smooth, about 2 minutes. Add the egg and almond extract and continue beating until combined, about 1 minute, scraping bottom and sides of bowl. In a smaller bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add flour mixture to butter mixture gradually using low speed.

Fit your cookie press with the Christmas tree plate and spoon dough into the cookie press. Holding it perpendicular to baking sheet press out cookies 2 inches apart. Decorate with red and green sprinkles before baking. Bake until very lightly browned on the edges, 7 to 9 minutes. Allow to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing.

Tip: Do not refrigerate cookie dough before loading into cookie press. If the dough is too cold it is more difficult to get through the cookie press.
